A New Jersey military base was put on alert Friday after two suspicious packages turned up on the base.
Officials at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst cleared the Base Exchange and Commissary building after the discovery of two suspicious items around 4:10 p.m.
The packages appeared to be non-threatening and the Base Exchange resumed normal operations shortly before 6 p.m. The Commissary would reopen Saturday, said officials.
