Bag of Ammo Causes Police Response at Main Line Jewish School

Various area police departments responded to a Main Line Jewish day school Wednesday morning after someone brought a bag of ammunition into the school, according to the Delaware County District Attorney's Office.

No weapon was found and prosecutors said no one was hurt at Barrack Hebrew Academy on Bryn Mawr Avenue in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

Police responded to the school around 10:15 a.m. and remained on scene fore hours as they swept the building as a precaution, according to prosecutors.

As SkyForce10 hovered overhead, you could see at least six police vehicles -- from Radnor, Haverford and Lower Merion townships -- on the school's campus and officers could be seen congregating at the entrance to the school.

School administration wouldn't say what caused the police presence but did say the building wasn't evacuated.

The DA's office said it appeared nothing criminal happened. they didn't reveal who brought the ammo to school.

Barrack Hebrew Academy serves student in grades 6 to 12 on its 35-acre campus. The school opened in 1946 as Akiba Hebrew Academy and is the oldest pluralistic, coeducational Jewish day school in North America, according to the school’s website.
