5, Including Boy, Hurt in Mercer County School Bus Crash

The bus belongs to the Hopewell Valley Regional School District according to the School Superintendentโ€™s Office.

Five people, including a young boy, are recovering after a school bus accident in Mercer County.

Officials say the accident happened at the intersection of Hopewell Princeton Road and Crusher Road in Hopewell Township. The crash involved a school bus from the Hopewell Valley Regional School District and three cars, according to investigators.

Police say the bus, driven by Rebecca Medina, 55, of Bristol, was traveling north on Hopewell Princeton Road and was turning left onto Crusher Road. Suddenly the bus was struck on the passenger side by a vehicle driven by Heather Haynes, 36, of Blairstown, traveling south on Hopewell Princeton Road. The impact caused the bus to spin and turn over on the driver's side. Police say the bus then fell on the hood of a car, driven by Bridgid Finn, 34, of Hopewell, that had stopped at the intersection of Crusher Road.

After crashing with the bus, police say Haynes' vehicle spun around and entered the northbound lane of Hopewell Princeton Road where it was struck by a car driven by Magdalena Fiedosiuk, 32, of Baltimore, Maryland.

Police say a 4-year-old boy from Hopewell Township as well as a school aide were the only passengers on the bus at the time of the crash. The boy, along with four other people involved in the crash, were taken to Capitol Health System and treated for minor injuries.

The roadway was closed for an hour and a half before crews were able to clear the scene. Officials continue to investigate the crash.
