Timothy Connors was killed after being hit by a car.

The end of the school day turned tragic Tuesday afternoon in Northeast Philadelphia.

An Archbishop Ryan student was struck and killed by a car Tuesday right near his high school, according to Philadelphia Police.

A 15-year-old boy was crossing Academy Road near Comly Road around 3:30 p.m. when a woman driving Suzuki SUV hit him, cops confirmed.

The school identified the victim as freshman Timothy Connors.

One of Tim's teachers rushed to the boy’s aid and administered CPR, according to an Archdiocese spokesman.

Despite efforts to save him, Tim was declared dead at a nearby hospital around 4:10 p.m., according to investigators.

Hundreds of students, teachers and members of the Ryan community gathered at the school Tuesday night for an impromptu vigil.

"His loss is one that will be felt throughout the entire Ryan community," said Michael McArdle, President of Archbishop Ryan High School. "Our thoughts and prayers go out for Timothy and his family."

The driver of the SUV stopped on Academy after the crash and was questioned by police on the scene. It appears that the driver didn't do anything wrong and charges are unlikely, cops said.

Tim was the son of Southwest Philadelphia Police Det. Martin Connors, Mayor Michael Nutter said Tuesday night while accepting the democratic nomination for another term as mayor.

As he took the podium to claim victory, Nutter remembered Connors with a moment of silence.

"I'm going to ask that we keep Det. Martin Connors... Timothy's mother Georgette and their entire family in our prayers," Nutter said.

The school will have grief counselors on hand starting Wednesday to assist students, the school said.
