Firefighters investigate a blaze at the West Philadelphia house of a teenager accused of shooting another teen just minutes into 2013.
Philadelphia Police arrested a teen accused of shooting another teen just minutes into the New Year.
Kamonne Jordan, 18, was arrested Wednesday for shooting Jaymire Rustin, 16, following a house party on the 5600 block of Carpenter Street in West Philadelphia, according to cops.
It was the first homicide recorded in the city in 2013.
Jordan allegedly shot Rustin in the head around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday after getting into an argument. He faces murder, reckless endangerment and gun charges, according to court documents.
In a strange twist, Jordan's house, which is on the same block as where the shooting occurred, caught fire early Thursday morning, according to Philadelphia firefighters.
A 70-year-old woman was hospitalized for smoke inhalation following the blaze.
Police said that they didn't know if the fire had anything to do with Jordan's alleged involvement in the New Year's homicide.
It was all part of a bloody start to 2013. Three others, including a man who was hit by a car on City Avenue, were also killed in the early morning hours of Jan. 1.
