UConn center Hasheem Thabeet showed he can pull off a April Fools' prank better than most and stopped hearts at the same time Wednesday with a Twitter post that shocked Huskies Nation.
Thabeet wrote on Twitter and Facebook that the team would be heading to Detroit to take on Michigan State without him. He’d failed a drug test.
Sporting News and FanIQ.com posted the tweet from HasheemTheDream on their Web sites.
A few minutes later, he cleared it all up. He was just kidding. FanIQ.com has posted the follow-up tweet.
With no games to play until Saturday, it gave UConn fans something to talk about and a lesson that we all need an attention span longer than it takes to read a Twitter tweet.
