Obama Campaign Manager Inks 7-Figure Book Deal

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe signed a seven-figure book deal to write about the presidential election and provide insider insight into the strategy and struggles that went on behind the scenes of the campaign.

The book "The Audacity to Win: The Inside Story and Lessons of Barack Obama's Historic Victory" will detail the battle against Hillary Clinton in the primary election and the campaign's strategy against John McCain in the general election.

Plouffe will also write about the  business lessons learned from creating what was essentially a $1 billion start-up.

The Obama campaign was credited for being a highly sophisticated operation and raised an unprecedented  $750 million -- the most money ever for a presidential election. Competition for Plouffe's book was stiff and bidding reportedly reached at least $1.5 million.

Viking, an imprint of Penguin Group, will be publishing the book next fall.
