At the request of Michael Jackson's mother and ex-wife, a court hearing that had been scheduled for Monday to determine who will be the guardian of the singer's three children was postponed Friday for one week.

According to the Los Angeles Superior Court's public information office, the hearing was rescheduled for July 20. The attorneys and judge in the case will take part in a conference call at 3 p.m. July 17.

The postponement means another week of waiting to see whether Deborah Rowe -- Jackson's ex-wife and the mother of his two older children -- will make a bid for custody.

On June 29, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff granted temporary custody of the children -- Prince Michael Jr., 12; Paris Michael Katherine, 11; and Prince Michael II, 7 -- to the singer's mother, Katherine Jackson. The two older children were delivered by Rowe, the youngest by a surrogate mother whose name has never been revealed.

Katherine Jackson, 79, wants to remain temporary guardian of the children, and she will remain so until the July 20 hearing.

Rowe told NBC two weeks ago that she plans to fight to obtain custody of the two older children, although her attorney said later that she had not reached a decision about whether to seek custody.

The guardianship hearing was originally scheduled for last Monday, but it was delayed at Rowe's request.

When the hearing does take place, Beckloff is also scheduled to address whether Katherine Jackson should additionally be appointed temporary guardian of the three children's estate.
