β€œWhorehouse” Comment Called a Low Blow

Mixing politics and the word "whorehouse" never ends well.

A firestorm is brewing after a political operative in Rick Perry's camp used the word when talking to the Dallas Morning News.

When talking about bringing new voters to the Republican party, Dave Carney told the newspaper, "But that doesn't mean you take your principles and throw them out the door and become a whorehouse and let anybody in who wants to come in, regardless."

Republican women's groups are in a tizzy, firing off a letter to the governor, calling the usage inappropriate.

The GOP women writing the letter are U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison backers.

Rick Perry's campaign spokesman told media outlets the statements were not related to the 2010 race.

Hutchison's spokesman Hans Klingler told The Associated Press, "Unfortunately for Texas Republicans, Rick Perry and his spokesman are utilizing the same divisive, non-substantive rhetoric that fueled huge losses in 2006 and 2008 for Republicans in Texas and nationally."
