Philadelphia ranked 88 out of the 100 healthiest cities for men in 2009.

It’s the best and worst cities for men to live brought to you by Men’s Health, 2009 style.

Where’s Philadelphia rank? Not number 1, or number 2, or number 3 …not even in the top 50. Ouch.

Philadelphia drops in overall at a (drum roll please) whopping number 88 – guess that makes Philly one of the worst cities for men to live.

Is this another reason for Philadelphians to get outta this city?

I mean, at one point, in 2000 to be exact, Philly was named by Men's Fitness Magazine as the "fattest" city in America. Then, in 2007, results from a survey conducted by Travel and Leisure named Philadelphia the "ugliest" city in America too. Ouch.

Men’s Health considered 30 different criteria to come up with the best places to be a man.

A series of health data from illnesses like heart disease to diabetes were calculated. Then, “quality-of-life variables” which include crime rates, air quality, and job growth were added up. And, finally all different forms of fitness were taken into account.

That’s pretty much how the whole shabang was put together.

And, that’s pretty much how Philly brought the bang overall at number 88 – ranking number 95 for “health,” number 83 for “life,” and number 45 for “fitness.”

Check the map to see all the results.

  • Just Me Tuesday, Jan 6 at 4:30 PM FLAG COMMENT I agree with KLM also. I don't know why there is so much hatred in the hearts of people. Why can't people just see each other from the inside out? We all bleed red. If you look at a white person's heart and a black person's heart, you won't be able to tell them apart. And truth be known, most transplants are inter-cultural, as long as the blood types and tissues match. So, stop the bigotry and prejudice. You never know ... MORE >
