NBC10 will be helped families ring in 2016 with fireworks along Philadelphia’s waterfront.

NBC10 News anchor Keith Jones joined Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter to announce plans for the SugarHouse New Year’s Eve fireworks on New Year’s Eve.

This year’s Star Wars-themed fireworks was brought to you by SugarHouse and televised on NBC10 and Telemundo62 as well as each station’s websites and apps at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve so that the whole family could enjoy without having to stay up late.

“There’s no better city to bring in the New Year than Philly,” said Jones who emceed Tuesday’s announcement. “It’s a family affair and the best part is my family NBC10/Telemundo62 will bring it to you in a way you’ve never seen before.”

If you plan on staying up to welcome the New Year, the fireworks will go off again at midnight.

"There is no better place to spend the New Year than in Philadelphia," said Nutter. “The Mummers Parade and the SugarHouse New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront are both family affairs... The New Year’s Eve fireworks will once again be presented at two times: 6 p.m. and midnight, to accommodate families and those who may have other plans at midnight. So, come to our beautiful city on New Year’s Eve, watch the fireworks, stay overnight in one of our great hotels, and celebrate on Broad Street with the Mummers on New Year’s Day -- it’s a great way to ring in the New Year.”

And, the fun continues after New Year's Eve on the waterfront.

NBC10 and Telemundo62 are also the new official television sponsors of the Blue Cross River Rink Winterfest and ice skating rink on Penn’s Landing. Winterfest is one of Philadelphia’s marquee winter attractions, offering family-friendly activities by day and amazing holiday lights, food by the Garces Group and Franklin Fountain and cocktails by night. It’s open now through March.
