Looking Back on Live Aid 30 Years Later

Thirty years ago superstars such as a reunited Led Zeppelin, Madonna Phil Collins, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Tom Petty and many, many more to to the stage as one of the biggest worldwide musical events centered around a long-gone stadium in the City of Brotherly Love.

"Live Aid," an international rock concert in London and Philadelphia -- with performances also in Moscow and Sydney -- took place to raise money for Africa's starving people on July 13, 1985. The Philly show alone drew around 90,000 people, said MTV.

Live Aid was organized by singer Bob Geldof and featured dozens of top entertainers playing at the old Wembley Stadium in London and the now defunct JFK Stadium in South Philadelphia -- starting at 9 a.m. and going well into the night. It's estimated more than 1.5 billion people either watched Live Aid on television or listened to a radio broadcast while raising, according to Newsweek, about $125 million for famine relief.
