A group of Diner en Blanc hopefuls turned their frustration over their failed bids for a seat at the white-clothed tables in 2014 into a similar event, which is set to return for a second time in September.
Diner en Noir will take place at a yet-to-be-named location on Sept. 10 with open registration set for July 15, according to a post on its Facebook page.
Both impromptu, outdoor picnics were held on the same night in 2014, a decision Diner en Noir's founder, Chris Nowaczyk, said he made to accommodate the many people who had already expected to attend the Broad Street soiree.
But this year Nowaczyk said he and the seven other administrative volunteers are happy Diner en Noir is scheduled on a different night than the 4,300-seat Diner en Blanc since their motivation is no longer fueled by frustration.
