A Fairmount bar slash music venue is saying good bye to live music as it shifts to a new look and name.

The North Star Bar, located at the corner of 27th and Poplar streets, will be open through Oct. 17 before shutting down for a short time to undergo renovations, according to its website.

Well-known for live performances, the new bar will no longer offer live music and is shedding its name. It is unclear when the re-opening will take place.

"We will miss the good old days of rock and roll at the North Star, but we will look on them with great fondness for the rest of our lives and hope that you will as well," the website said. Read more about the changes at North Star on PBJ.com.
