New Jersey Church Hosts State's Largest Easter Egg Hunt

A New Jersey church wants to make this Easter one to remember so they're orchestrating the state's largest egg hunt full of candy and other surprises.

Liquid Church, offering services in four spots throughout New Jersey, will the state’s largest holiday hunt – hiding more than 100,000 eggs – to be found Easter weekend.

“We want to build a bridge to the community,” said Liquid Church founder and lead pastor Tim Lucas. “We have a lot of parents in the church so we always try to create events for kids.”

Lucas is hoping to showcase a different side to church-going, by uniting families with fun festivities.

“There aren’t Easter eggs in the Bible, but it’s a fun way to get children and their parents together,” Lucas said.

The eggs will be scattered at the church’s four sites in Morristown, Mountainside, New Brunswick and Nutley.

Children will find candy and some other goodies inside their eggs.

“Traditionally, [the eggs] are filled with candy and some of have small toys, but some of the eggs will have coupons for a free iPad,” Lucas said.

The church expects about 6,000 people at this year’s egg hunt, which will also include a traditional service and a rock performance.

“It will be a fun day for the community," Lucas said. "We are really looking forward to welcoming new families."
