You can get a taste of life in the 1700’s thanks to an event running every Sunday through the month of August in suburban Philadelphia.
The Pottsgrove Manor will host Living History Sundays to highlight the traditions and everyday life of people in the 18th century starting Aug. 6.
From 1 to 4 p.m., staff and volunteers will explain to the public how to perform daily tasks in a colonial person’s life such as embroidery, needlework and weaving.
Visitors will also be able learn how to churn butter and see food being prepared in a reproduced colonial kitchen at each event.
Colonial ironmaster John Potts’ 1752 manor house on West King Street in Pottstown will also be open for tours during the day, as guests will be able to see the daily routines of the Potts family and their household staff.
The four-week program welcomes all ages with colonial games for the whole family to play and enjoy. While anyone is able to stop by, there is a suggested donation of $2 per person.
