Jon Stewart Likens Romney's Old Company to “Batman” Supervillain

Romney's old venture capital company "happens to bear the same name as the most frightening and current ‘Batman’ villain.”

“The Daily Show” host took a comical stab at GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney by tying his former company Bain Capital to its supervillain namesake, Bane.

Stewart joked that Romney’s old venture capital company “happens to bear the same name as the most frightening and current ‘Batman’ villain.”

Bain Capital has been labeled by Democrats as a “jobs killer,” and Stewart wasted no spearing Romney’s campaign bid by airing a list of Bain Capital’s purported villainous acts.

“Mitt Romney’s whole campaign is based on the idea that he’s run a business, so he knows how to create jobs,“ Stewart said, before throwing to a clip describing how the companies Romney invested in expanded overseas, sometimes at the expense of American workers.

“He never said he knew where he was going to create those jobs.” Stewart quipped.

Even Romney’s decision to take a leave of absence from Bain to spearhead the Salt Lake City Olympics wasn’t saved from Stewart’s mockery.

“Romney claimed he took a leave of absence from Bain in February 1999 to run the Salt Lake City Olympics, which means he didn’t have control of the companies doing the outsourcing,” Stewart said. “He had nothing to do with the outsourcing because at the time he was too busy bringing foreigners to America to take our gold.”
