If the rapper T.I. ever gets tired of the fame and popularity created by his nimble wordplay and smooth flow, he may have a second career already lined up: crisis negotiator.

The hip-hop star is being credited with saving a suicidal man's life after hearing a radio report about a person threatening to jump off a building, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Upon hearing the news, T.I. drove to the office building in downtown Atlanta and offered his assistance to the police.

"Something in me just said, 'Man, you gotta try and help. You gotta do whatever you can," T.I. said.

An officer on the scene shot a quick video of the rap star, which was then sent to the man on the roof.

"He came to the scene and offered to talk to him, we told the young man that, and he came down," said Officer James Polite of the Atlanta police.

In the clip, the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, pleaded with the jumper to reconsider his decision.

"Nothing is that bad," the self-proclaimed King of the South said. "Nothing in life is worth taking your life. I'm here to help you. Please come down and talk to me."

The man, whose name was not released, eventually climbed down, spoke with the rapper, and was then transported to a hospital for treatment. He will not face changes.

Polite said that the police were thankful for T.I.'s assistance.

"He didn't have to stop. He couldn't kept on going about his business," he said. "We're happy it ended the way it did, and we thank him."

T.I. has had his own problems with the law, including a jail stint on a gun possession charge, but he may have earned himself some good will with his heroic act.
