Green Day's lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong is reportedly out of an Italian hospital after he was rushed there this weekend, forcing the cancellation of a concert.

Armstrong was released from Hospital Maggiore in Bologna on Monday, WENN reported, citing local reports,.

The band had to scuttle its Bologna, Italy, concert scheduled for Sunday as a result of Armstrong's mysterious illness, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool said in a web video.

"The doctors don't think it's a good idea for him to play today," Dirnt said. "This sucks. We really, really were looking forward to playing in Bologna. It was the highlight of our tour."

Cool added that they were "beyond devastated," and the pair apologized to their fans.

They didn't provide specifics on their bandmate's ailment, saying only that he had been suddenly hospitalized "due to illness."

Armstrong, who formed Green Day with Dirnt almost 25 years ago, had recently signed on to be a mentor on NBC's "The Voice." He will work with Christina Aguilera's team when the show returns to TV on Sept. 10.

His band, meanwhile, is set to release the first of a trio of albums called "¡Uno!," "¡Dos!," and "¡Tré!" later this month.
