Chris Cornell won't be playing the Ben Franklin Parkway as part of the "Made In America" festival.

There will be no Temple of the Dog reunion at this weekend’s “Made In America” Festival.

The reuniting of the Seattle super group seemed almost a certainty with Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell and Pearl Jam both part of Sunday’s lineup on the Ben Franklin Parkway.

But then came this message posted to Cornell’s Facebook Tuesday night:

Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict Chris Cornell is unable to perform at the Made in America festival in Philadelphia on September 2 as previously planned. Apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment. - Team CC

The scheduling conflict could be due to the rocker playing a Barack Obama presidential campaign rally Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa, an announcement he made earlier this week on Twitter.

By Wednesday morning Cornell’s name was off the Made in America website.

Even though Cornell -- who besides Soundgarden, led super groups Temple of the Dog (along with guys from Pearl Jam) and Audioslave (with members of Rage Against the Machine) -- claimed he backed out due to scheduling, people will think what they want about him dipping out on the festival so late in the game. He had weeks to prepare for MIA but just a few days, seemingly, for the campaign event.

NBC10 has calls in with promoters to try and find out more on why Cornell won’t be playing.

With Cornell out, Run DMC, Jill Scott and Drake step in as the biggest acts on Sunday’s bill, behind rock legends Pearl Jam.

Tickets for the whole festival or either Saturday or Sunday are still available starting at $75.
