Sean Penn's efforts in Haiti are not going unnoticed.

The actor-activist's J/P Haitian Relief Organization has received an $8.75 million grant from the World Bank to help those still recovering from the devastating January 2010 earthquake, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Penn, 52, signed the grant with the Haitian government to help an estimated 14,000 people still living in temporary camps at the Petionville Club golf course to move out by early 2014.

A statement from Penn's PR firm said the grant will go toward rent subsidies or new housing units.

Penn, who was designated by Haitian president Michel Martelly as the country's ambassador-at-large in January 2012, founded the relief organization two months after the devastating earthquake hit.

Since then, JP/HRO has treated more than 260,000 patients in two free clinics, helped 500 children receive free education, provided clean water to 10,000 people and distributed 14,500 tents to families across the country.
