Ryan Gosling Defends Eva Mendes After Sweatpants Comment

Ryan Gosling defended Eva Mendes on Twitter after the actress caused controversy with comments she made about women wearing sweatpants.

Earlier this week, Mendes said in an interview with Extra that sweatpants are the "number one cause of divorce in America."

"Obviously sweatpants thing was a joke," Gosling wrote on Twitter Thursday. "Wearing them now. That's right, tweeting in sweatpants. Rats! Said too much! You win again Twitter."

Mendes also revealed on Instagram that she owns a pair of sweatpants, sharing a photo of them with the caption: "Dear favorite pair of sweatpants. I was just kidding when I said you're the #1 cause of divorce. Everyone knows that orange crocs are the #1 cause of divorce. Either way it was a bad joke and feel terrible if you or anyone thought I was serious. Thanks for understanding sweatpants. Sorry orange crocs."

Admittedly, working out isn't her favorite thing to do, but as she tells Women's Health's April issue, she makes time for it. "I realized a long time ago that I needed to have some kind of routine," she says of her fitness plan. "I don't love it, but I've made peace with that choice."

She lifts weights but "nothing too heavy, because my body bulks up pretty easily. I mix it up with yoga, or sometimes I'll hike with my trainer."
