Radio City Music Hall Welcomes Back Tony Awards

Radio City Music Hall started hosting the Tony Awards in 1997 until 2010

Welcome back.

The 71st Annual Tony Awards will return to Radio City Music hall when the program is broadcast in New York City on Sunday, June 11 on CBS.

Radio City started hosting the Tony Awards in 1997 until 2010, with the exception of 1999 when the Hall was under renovations, and from 2013 to 2015.

The Tonys were first held on April 6, 1947 at the Waldorf Astoria's Grand Ballroom. More than 1,000 guests attended the show, established to celebrate excellence in the theater.

Last year, the Tonys were broadcast at Beacon Theater and hosted by James Corden. This year's host is yet to be announced, but the nominations for 2017 will be announced on Tuesday, May 2.
