‘Best Time Ever' Premiere: Neil Patrick Harris Does a Blind Audition for ‘The Voice'

It was an evening of pranks, stunts and dancing as NBC premiered “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris” on Tuesday.

The series - based on the popular British hit “Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway”, is live and features hidden camera and prank segments.

The show kicked off with Harris walking through the “Best Suit Ever” machine, which gave him a quick wardrobe change before heading over to greet the audience.

In one of his first major pranks, Harris went undercover on “The Voice”, posing as the new host of the Austrian version of the popular music talent show. Wearing heavy makeup, a wig and a false beard, Harris interviewed the show’s four coaches - Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams - as well as host, Carson Daly.

Harris surprised the coaches by taking to the stage in his own blind audition, just before revealing they’d been pranked.

Academy Award winner, Reese Witherspoon, was the series’ first celebrity announcer. Witherspoon accepted Harris’ Skyscraper daredevil challenge, where the two climbed 15 stories and zip lined down.

Witherspoon later admitted she’s afraid of heights.

“He emailed me and said ‘Hey, let’s do a little stunt’,” she said.

Harris also surprised a couple from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, telling them he’d crashed their wedding. The host showed them video of him sitting in their car, photobombeing their wedding photos, taking a taste of their wedding cake before the bride’s mother wheeled it out into the reception room, and dressing up the bed in their honeymoon suite. He surprised the couple with a honeymoon vacation to Antigua.

Harris closed the show with a star studded studio-wide celebration complete with dancing and acrobats.

“Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris” airs on Tuesdays on NBC.
