10 Memorable Past Super Bowl Commercials

No one can remember the final score after the Super Bowl. Not so with some of the ads.

Who can forget supermodel Bar Refaeli's unbearable kiss for GoDaddy in 2013, or Apple's iconic "1984" commerical?

Last year's Super Bowl XLVII drew in 111.5 million viewers. But not all those spectators tuned in because they were diehard football fans. For many, the showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos was just something that happened between commercials breaks.

No other single event in America can draw an audience of that size, and with the ability to reach so many people, advertisers are willing to shell out big bucks in order to influence the masses.

In 2014, the price of a 30-second spot reportedly cost $4 million. This year, a 30-second spot is said to have gone up to $4.5 million.

Check out below a handful of the most memorable Super Bowl ads through the years:

McDonald's: Larry Bird and Michael Jordan in "The Showdown" (1993)

Volkswagon "The Force" (2011)

Pepsi: Cindy Crawford in "New Can" (1992)

Budweiser "Frogs" (1995)

Budweiser: "Wassup" (2000)

Apple: "1984" (1984)

Budweiser "Puppy Love" (2014)

Bridgestone: "Scream" (2008)

E-Trade: "Milkaholic" (2010)

A notable mention is Coca-Cola's "Hey Kid, Catch!" featuring former Pittsburgh Steelers tackler "Mean" Joe Greene. Though the commercial is most notable for airing during Super Bowl XIV in 1980, Coca-Cola originally aired the ad in October of 1979. The commercial won the 1979 CLIO Award in the world's larget advertising awards competition, and Greene took home the award for best actor in the same contest.
