Kate Winslet Names Son Bear; Baby Boy Take's Mom's Surname, Not Ned Rocknroll's

Kate Winslet and Ned Rocknroll gave their newborn son a wild name: Bear!

The baby boy, born Dec. 7 in England, will take his mum's surname, the actress's rep confirmed to People. Bear Winslet (rather than Bear Rocknroll, which might have been a tad flashy for an infant) joins older half-siblings Mia, 13, and Joe, 10.

Kate, 38, and Ned, 35, quietly wed in December 2012. In June, the couple confirmed that they were "delighted" to be expecting their first child together.

Baby Bear is the first of the Oscar winner's three children to take on her last name rather than their father's. (Mia's dad is Kate's first husband Jim Threapleton and Joe's father is ex-hubby Sam Mendes.)

Kate herself didn't take on the Rocknroll surname (which isn't Ned's birth-given name) either.

"I quite like Kate Winslet; in fact I think it's very flashy," she told the Telegraph in September. "I'm proud of my name because I'm one of three girls and we have one boy in our family so essentially the only person who is going to carry the name along is my brother and he doesn't have any children at the moment."

Well, Bear Winslet, looks like your work's already cut out for you!
