Thousands, Including Celebs, Rally for “Dancing Man” Bullied Online

A London man who was body-shamed online after someone posted photos of him dancing is now getting a special dance party.

Photos mocking the "Dancing Man" were first posted last month on message board 4chan.

"Spotted this specimen trying to dance the other week," wrote the anonymous user. "He stopped when he saw us laughing."

The image was since posted on Imgur, and then shared on social media, including Reddit and Twitter.

The photo caught the attention of Cassandra Fairbanks, a writer at The Free Thought Project in Los Angeles, who decided to speak out in support of the man and throw him a dance party.

"I thought it was so horrible," Fairbanks told NBC's "Today" show of seeing the photo. "I mean, anybody with any sense was horrified by this. It is wrong."

She shared the photo on Twitter on Thursday, with this message: "Anyone know this man or who posted this? There's a huge group of ladies in LA who would like to do something special."

A women's group she belongs to in Los Angeles helped her spread the word. It only took 12 hours for Twitter users to find Sean, using the hashtag #FindDancingMan.

"My first thought was, 'Wow, we've got to throw the best party ever!'" Fairbanks told "Today" of the moment she learned Sean had been found.

And now even celebrities want in on the party, with Pharrell tweeting, "Hey @CassandraRules keep me posted about your dance party! @Dancingmanfound, never be ashamed of yourself. You are both truly #OTHER."

And Moby offered to DJ the party. "No one should ever be ashamed about dancing," he said in a tweet.

The the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has agreed to host the event, which has already raised more than $30,000 online. The date hasn't been set yet.

Sean said in a Tweet he's trying to keep a low profile until he arrives in Los Angeles for the big bash.
