Chef Bryan Voltaggio Charged With Drunken Driving in Baltimore

Voltaggio faces several drunken driving charges in Baltimore

Celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio faces a September court date on drunken driving charges in Baltimore.

Police stopped the one-time "Top Chef" runner-up early June 6 on South Howard Street in Baltimore, the Frederick News-Post reported Friday.

He is charged with driving while impaired, driving under the influence and driving under the influence per se, which means his blood alcohol level allegedly tested at more than .08 percent.

Voltaggio didn't respond to the newspaper's requests for comment. A spokeswoman for his company didn't immediately respond to a query from The Associated Press. Defense attorney Peter Markuski didn't immediately return a call from The Associated Press.

The Urbana resident has opened a string of restaurants in the Mid-Atlantic region -- including Volt and Family Meal in Frederick, Maryland -- since placing second to his brother Michael on the "Top Chef" television show in 2009.
