Bill Cosby's Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Vandalized

The word "rapist" was scribbled on the nearly 40-year-old star on Hollywood Boulevard, according to photos posted online

Bill Cosby's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was vandalized Thursday night, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said Friday.

The word "rapist" was written multiple times on the star, the chamber said.

"When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways then to vandalize a California State landmark," said a spokeswoman from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which awards the stars, in a statement.

Cosby has been accused of sexual abuse or assault by over 20 women, many who spoke out for the first time in the last few months. Three more stepped forward Wednesday.

The comedian has regularly denied the allegations through a lawyer.

Cosby's star was awarded to Cosby Nov. 23, 1977 and is located at 6930 Hollywood Boulevard.

It was being cleaned up Friday morning, according to the Chamber spokeswoman.

"I saw it scribbled," said Gregg Donovan, a Hollywood Walk of Fame greeter. "I was very disappointed. It's a California landmark. A lot of the tourists were asking me, 'What's going on? Why did they do this?'"
