Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence Are Writing a Screenplay Together

"Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence talked to the New York Times Wednesday about her last hurrah with the dystopian franchise and casually dropped the biggest movie news bomb: She and Amy Schumer are writing a screenplay together.

The comedic genius behind "Trainwreck" and the loveable Oscar winner are coming together to create what will probably be one of the best movies ever. Even if it's not, we'll all love it anyway.

"We play sisters," Lawrence dished to the NYT. "We're almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We've got about 100 pages right now."

Ever since photos surfaced of Schumer and Lawrence riding jet skis together, we've been imagining them as best friends. It turns out, we weren't off base. "Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It's been the most fun experience of my life," Lawrence added.

"We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I'm flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We'll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing 'Trainwreck.'"

Their friendship began only a few months ago, when Lawrence emailed the "Inside Amy Schumer" star about her megahit comedy, and it only took off from there.

"I emailed her after I saw 'Trainwreck' and said, 'I don't know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I'm in love with you,'" she told the newspaper. "We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting."

She added, "We really hit it off, to say the least."

Before the interview came to an end, Lawrence informed the reporter that she had to tell Schumer she broke the news about their screenplay. Their exchange is everything you could imagine and more.

"I wrote, 'I just spilled the beans to the New York Times. Is that O.K.?'" Lawrence said. "And Amy wrote back, 'That you're gay? Totally! It's exciting!'"
