Warhol Collection Stolen from SoCal Home

Warhols featured sports stars of the 1970s

A multi-million-dollar collection of Andy Warhol paintings has been stolen from a private home in West Los Angeles, police said.
     
The LAPD said Friday that 10 40-inch by 40-inch paintings depicting famous athletes, including Chris Evert, Muhammad Ali and O.J. Simpson, were taken from the home of businessman Richard Weisman. A portrait of Weisman by the pop artist, who painted the series from 1977-79, was also stolen.
     
A domestic employee entered Weisman's home on Sept. 3 and discovered the artwork missing from the dining room walls, according to LAPD She left the residence and went to a neighbor's home where she called police.
     
A $1 million reward is being offered for information leading to the artwork's recovery.
