Betty White's proven she can do almost anything at age 88, and now she's writing a pair of books.
The beloved actress, whose career has undergone a feel-good renaissance, will write about everything from aging, sex and celebrity to zoo animals.
Book No. 1, to be called "Listen Up!" will include lessons learned in Hollywood career, especially the last 15 years. The second book, "The Zoo and I: Betty and Her Friends," will feature stories and pictures of animals at the zoo.
"Much as I love what I do for a living in show business, I love writing even more -- so I am thrilled to be working on not only one new book but two of them," White, a long-time board member of the Los Angeles Zoo, said in a statement.
G.P. Putnam's Sons, an imprint of Pearson-owned Penguin, will publish "Listen Up!" early next year and "The Zoo and I: Betty and Her Friends" will be released in 2012.
White starred on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in the 1970s and "The Golden Girls" a generation later. White has been hot since appearing in the hit movie "The Proposal" last year. She was then propelled by a Facebook campaign into a guest hosting role on "Saturday Night Live" that drew raves and soon landed a new sitcom on TV Land, "Hot in Cleveland."
This fall, she will have a guest role on "Community," the Thursday-night NBC comedy heading into its second season, playing professor June Bauer.
