Robert Pattinson: I Don't Do Romance

"I would never serenade someone to be romantic," the "Twilight" hunk said

Blood-sucking heartthrob Robert Pattinson thinks romance bites.

When it comes to wooing the ladies, the 23-year-old vampire hunk says he can be a bit of a jerk.

"I can't think of a single romantic thing that I've ever done," he told People.com when he made the media rounds while promoting his new "Twilght" movie in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Pattinson, who plays blood-thirsty vamp Edward in the teen movie sensation "Twilight" and is rumored to be romantically linked to co-star Kristen Stewart, said he was scarred by a high school courtship gone wrong.

"I would never serenade someone to be romantic. ... I put a flower in someone's locker when I was 15-years old, this girl called Maria," Pattinson told People. "She thought that it was someone else and the other guy claimed it as well, which is great."

Pattinson said the latest film, "New Moon," has an element of romance in it, but bristled at the suggestion that only women will enjoy the latest installment in the series.

"It's like saying guys can't appreciate romance," he said. "I've watched 'Titanic,' and I didn't think 'Oh, this is a girl's film.' I felt like the storyline in 'New Moon' is very heartbreaking and true. I didn't think I was doing something just for the sake of romance."
