Jon Gosselin: I Took “A Lot of Abuse” From Kate

"I was put down," he said

Jon Gosselin said he took "a lot of abuse" from ex-wife Kate Gosselin -- and now he's ready to move on.

"I took a lot of abuse from her," Gosselin said. "I was put down."

In an interview for ABC's "Primetime: Family Secrets" airing Tuesday night, the father of eight dished on his life as a stay at home dad who watched after the kids as Kate, his wife of 10 years, spent time jet-setting across the country promoting her book.

"Well, excuse me, I'm taking care of the kids. She's on book tours, she's doing all these things. You know, she's gone a week. You know, comes back. Packs up and leaves again," Gosselin said. "I'm standing there like, 'Oh, Ok. Your mom's gone again.'"

"She'll call me like, almost like a lame fish. Like I wasn't going anywhere," he said.

The reality TV dad said custody disputes have become bitter and he was forced to call the cops on Kate this summer when she went to the couple's sprawling Pennsylvania estate and refused to leave.

"I wouldn't let her in the gate," he said. "I said, 'I'm spending time with my kids ... and she's going to have to leave and she tried to cry it up with the cops and it didn't work and they told her she had to leave."

The "Jon & Kate Plus 8" dad said last week that he was living a "nightmare."

Gosselin, who used to stay at home with the kids full time, has been spending his bachelorhood partying it up in Vegas and was photographed with girlfriend Hailey Glassman in St. Tropez, France, earlier this summer.

Kate has said publicly she's concerned what effect Jon's partying will have on their children.

"My main concern is my kids," she told CNN's Larry King last week. "I don't want them to see or hear anything on TV that I didn't discuss with them. We discussed what they need to know at their developmental age group."

The couple announced their split in June.
