Christina Aguilera on Divorce: “A Lot of Tears and Sadness”

Christina Aguilera said some days it “feels impossible” to roll out of bed.

A day after the 29-year-old pop star went public with her split from hubby Jordan Bratman, Aguilera opened up to Redbook magazine on her emotional state.

“It’s not easy, and there have been a lot of tears and sadness,” Aguilera said. “It’s impossible to redefine yourself and your life overnight.”

Aguilera credited her mom and “a small group of close friends who are there for me 24-7” with helping her cope with the decision to walk after nearly five years of marriage.

“On days when it feels impossible to even get out of bed, much less function as a mother, their support and encouragement have kept me moving forward,” she said.

In divorce documents filed last week with the Los Angeles Superior Court and posted by TMZ, Aguilera listed September 11 as the date of her separation from Bratman, a music marketing exec, and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the relationship dealbreaker.

The “Dirty” singer requested joint physical and legal custody of the pair’s 2-year-old son, Max, and asked to keep “miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects.”

In response to questions about infidelity rumors and whether she tried couple's therapy, Aguilera told Redbook: “Out of respect for my husband, I prefer to keep the specifics private.”

“Right now, I’m just trying to figure out how to make it through each day,” she said, adding that her son’s happiness was her top priority.

Redbook’s full interview is due out November 16.
