Susannah York, perhaps best known for her Oscar-nominated role in the 1969 film βThey Shoot Horses Donβt They?β passed away from a fight with cancer. She was 72.
Reuters reports that York was one of the mainstays of 1960βs cinema, having roles in such films as βTom Jones,β and βA Man For All Seasons.β The actress starred across from notable names like Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, and Peter OβToole.
βShe was an absolutely fantastic mother,β said her actor son Orlando Wells, to the British newspaper, the Sunday Telegraph. βShe loved nothing more than cooking a good Sunday roast and sitting around a fire of a winterβs evening. In some sense, she was quite a home girl.β
