British Actress Susannah York Dies at 72

Susannah York, perhaps best known for her Oscar-nominated role in the 1969 film β€œThey Shoot Horses Don’t They?” passed away from a fight with cancer. She was 72.

Reuters reports that York was one of the mainstays of 1960’s cinema, having roles in such films as β€œTom Jones,” and β€œA Man For All Seasons.” The actress starred across from notable names like Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, and Peter O’Toole.

β€œShe was an absolutely fantastic mother,” said her actor son Orlando Wells, to the British newspaper, the Sunday Telegraph. β€œShe loved nothing more than cooking a good Sunday roast and sitting around a fire of a winter’s evening. In some sense, she was quite a home girl.”
