Lindsay Lohan Gets Candid About Her Break-Up With Samantha Ronson

Lindsay Lohan is ready to get her career back on track following her tumultuous break-up with DJ Samantha Ronson.

"I feel like I want to get my career back in shape," the actress told Ellen during a candid interview for Thursday's "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." "When people are together so much it gets really difficult and you forget who you are because you're more concerned about being with the other person. I think it's been really good for me. I thought it would be so much harder and it hasn't been."

In Lindsay's first TV interview since her split with Sam, the actress revealed to Ellen that the break-up came out of the blue.

"I think that break-ups are hard when you're a private person," Ellen said.

"Or when you don't know you're breaking up… really weird," Lindsay responded.

"Did you not know you were breaking up?" Ellen quickly asked.

"I had no idea what was going on. I just hadn't seen her in like, a week. She like, disappeared," Lindsay said.

The actress also revealed that the news of Sam's family — including the DJs twin sister Charlotte — visiting a local police station to ask about a restraining order after the break-up, came as a shock.

"I was like, 'I don't understand,'" Lindsay told Ellen. "It came out of nowhere. I've supported Charlotte and I've never done anything for people to assume I'm dangerous."

As previously reported on Access Hollywood, Lindsay and Samantha broke up in early April after a tumultuous weekend that saw the actress reportedly banned from a launch party for Charlotte's newest JCPenney line, which was held at the Chateau Marmont hotel.

"That whole night was just really tough and… it came out of nowhere," Lindsay said before adding that she and her ex are back on speaking terms. "Samantha and I are friends. We're talking."

Lindsay also told Ellen that the tabloid and Internet interest in the end of their romance has "gotten completely blown out of proportion."

When asked if she was having a hard time coping with the break-up and the stress that has since followed, Lindsay said she is doing surprisingly well.

"I don't know what happened but everything fell into place and everything is really moving and going on and it feels really good," she said. "I didn't get into this business to be a celebrity on the cover of tabloids and I've been a target and I'm not that interesting. It distracts people — studio heads, everyone, and they get nervous. I've been through a lot. I was 19-years-old when things happened and I'm ready to work. I'm responsible and I can be on time and I learn from my mistakes."
