Kal Penn Robbed at Gunpoint: Report

First he quits the Obama adminstration; now this. Craziness all around!

Guess Kumar should've stayed at White Castle... or at least the White House. Actor Kal Penn -- who recently spent a year working for the Obama administration -- was robbed at gunpoint early this morning in the District.

Penn claims a man carrying a gun approached him around 1:20 a.m. and took his wallet and other personal property.

A Metro Police report says that at 1:20 a.m., a male victim reported that while walking in the 1500 block of S St. N.W., a subject approached, showed him a handgun and ordered him to get down on the ground. The victim handed over his wallet and cell phone. A second suspect was standing nearby during the robbery; he was joined by the first suspect after the robbery.

One suspect was described a black male, age 23-27, 5'9" and 180 pounds, clean-shaven and having an average build.

Penn reported the incident to law enforcement.

Penn, whose birth name is Kalpen Modi, left his gig on "House" playing Dr. Lawrence Kutner to take a job as an associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement in April 2009. Earlier this month, it was announced that he was returning to his acting career.

Here's hoping Hollywood gossip treats him better than D.C. criminals have.
