Lohan Posts Bail, Warrant Recalled

Warrant issued, then recalled after a hearing about an alert from Lohan's alcohol monitoring bracelet

A judge issued a bench warrant Tuesday for Lindsay Lohan's arrest, then recalled the warrant after bond was posted about one hour later.

The judge set Lohan's bail at $200,000 -- double the original amount -- Tuesday afternoon during a hearing about an alert from her alcohol monitoring bracelet. A bail-bondsman showed up at the courthouse less than an hour after Tuesday's ruling.

The warrant was recalled and Lohan remains free. Lohan didn't appear at the hearing, but the bail-bondsman was swarmed by camera crews. When asked whether he's comfortable that Lohan could come up with the money, he said, "Yes."

At a May 24 hearing, Judge Martha Revel ordered the actress to wear the SCRAM device as part of a bail agreement related to Lohan's 2007 DUI case. The judge said Tuesday that Lohan forfeited her original bail and allegedly violated the conditions of her probation in the 2007 case.

The LA Times reported Tuesday that the bracelet's alert went off Sunday -- the same night Lohan attended the MTV Awards.

A "source familiar with the case" told the Times it was unclear why the alert activated, but the judge said at Tuesday's hearing that it was a violation. Judge Revel did not provide details about the violation, but said her decision was made after receiving "results" issued by the monitor.

District Attorney's spokeswoman Shiara Davila-Morales said it was an "alcohol-related violation," but did not have details.

Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, met with Judge Revel during an emergency hearing in her chambers Tuesday afternoon at Beverly Hills Superior Court. Holley told TMZ.com that the bracelet "indicated the presense of a small amount of alcohol on Sunday night. Having just received the report, I am not in a position to speak to its accuracy or validity. However, Ms. Lohan maintains that she has been in complete compliance with all of the terms of her probation and her bail."

Lohan fired off a series of messages on her Twitter account Tuesday afternoon denying that her bracelet had gone off.

"My scram wasn't set off-Its physically impossible considering I've nothing for it to go off-All of these false resports are absolutely wrong," the starlet tweeted.

In another message she wrote: "This is all because of a FALSE accusation by tabloids& paparazzi&... I've been more than I'm compliance &feeling great."

Hours earlier, Holley, told The Associated Press that she is looking into whether a violation may have occurred. The AP reported that a violation could result in Lohan being sent to jail.

The device delivers an alert to a monitoring company, which then notifies authorities if it detects alcohol in the wearer's perspiration. If it's tampered with, the device also will send an alert.

"Just because a SCRAM is triggered doesn't necessarily mean the wearer was drinking alcohol," forensic expert Mike Hlastala told People. "Alcohol accidentally spilled on the SCRAM could trigger it, but the device will know that it didn't come from the wearer's bloodstream. If the wearer tries to remove the device, that would cause an alarm as well."

People magazine, citing a source close to the case, reported that the device sent the alert during an afterparty.

If all this sounds familiar, it should. Revel had issued an arrest warrant for Lohan last month after the  actress failed to show up for a scheduled probation review hearing. That warrant also was recalled when bond was posted.

When Lohan did finally appear in court for the May 24 hearing, Revel told Lohan and her attorney that she needed to adhere to the  conditions of her probation.
