Glam Slam: I Do Hairdos

Anyone who has ever seen an episode of "Bridezillas" knows no bride on the planet is gonna be happy about saying "I Do" with a bad hairdo.

To make sure your big day isn't a big disaster, Glam Slam's Wedding Week continues with bridal hair trends. Celebrity Stylist Jessica Tingley, of Serge Normant's Los Angeles Salon, says look to Hollywood for your inspiration.

"Old Hollywood glamour is always a trend on the red carpet AND for brides," says Jessica, who has made Heidi Klum, Mandy Moore and Ellen Pompeo look glamorous. Here are her picks for stylish Bridal 'dos:

THE LOOK:
The biggest wedding hair trend is volume. This does not mean stiff and contrived. It means soft and very full. The last few years of spiraled curls are giving way to a full loose wave. This look is being worn down or softly pulled back away from the face.

HOW TO:
Use a volumizer at the roots and blow dry the hair. Then curl sections around a 1-inch barrel curling iron until you have curled the entire head. Next - flip your hair over and brush out the curls. Flip back up and use your hands to smooth and shape the waves. Add a drop of shine serum to smooth any frizz. The look should be loose and full natural looking waves.

To get the half-up version, take the top section from around the temples and pull it back into a twist making sure to keep some height all the way back to the crown. Secure with bobby pins. Back comb the roots if you have fine of limp hair.

THE LOOK:
The classic ballerina bun is updated by giving it lift, turning it into a softer chignon.

HOW TO:
Start by blow drying the hair and setting it on velcro rollers. This will give you volume at the roots. Then gently pull the hair back into a loose low ponytail, leaving the front pieces to fall loosely around the face.

Tease the underside of the ponytail and smooth over the top of it. Then simply wrap the ponytail around the base and secure it with bobby pins to create the bun.

Next tease the base of the top and front of your hair and smooth into place. This works best with a side part or no part. Smooth loose ends back toward the bun and hide with hairpins. The look should be a full loose sexy chignon. Avoid over-using hairspray, which looks too stiff and helmet-like.

THE LOOK:
Many brides are opting for a chic ponytail for the big day.

HOW TO:
Just make sure you have a full blow dry before pulling hair back, so that the ponytail is polished and full. This looks best when worn with accessories other than a veil, according to Jessica.

Headbands are THE hair accessory right now and just this weekend I saw an amazing collection of handmade feathered headbands by Pluma. I like the "Rachel," which is made with ivory hackle feathers and would make a beautiful bridal headpiece. The band is black, which would be cute for brunettes, or they can make it in ivory as well. At $48, it's recession friendly and better yet - you'd be able to wear it again! www.plumashop.com
