“Top Model” Reschedules Botched NYC Auditions

"America's Next Top Model" has rescheduled its New York City auditions about three weeks after the first tryout was ended prematurely by a street side stampede.

Auditions for the 13th cycle of the reality show will be held at 7 a.m. on April 13 at a location to be announced. The show plans to audition possible contestants who are 5-foot-7 or shorter and between the ages of 18 and 27.

Three people were arrested and six others hurt after fighting and a stampede broke out while thousands waited to audition in Manhattan on March 14.

The auditions came to a grinding halt after a smoking, broken-down BMW stopped in front of the crowd waiting outside the Central Park hotel. Several people waiting in line thought the car had a bomb, causing panic to sweep through the crowd.

Witnesses described the environment as brimming with tension as up to 10,000 would-be models lined up outside the hotel.

You can bet producers of "America's Next Top Model" will have the NYPD on hand for crowd control purposes at their reality show auditions this time around.

"The producer of the show didn't notify the NYPD, so there were no cops specifically assigned there," a police official told the New York Daily News after the first auditions went sour.  "They needed to alert the police before the event."
