High Schools Compete for Most Students Running in End Hunger 5K

Registering the most runners for the 5K Stroehmann Run Against Hunger could earn your high school a big prize.

The big race is being held on Saturday, April 11.

Starting Monday, March 9, students are encouraged to register online to run with their school. The high school with the greatest number of students registered for the race by Friday, April 3 will win $2,500 and have their name announced here on NBC10.com.

The race fee is $30 but the Coalition Against Hunger is asking potential participants to select the $32 registration in order to offset processing costs and enable more funds go directly toward the more than 100 food pantries and other charitable organizations throughout Pennsylvania and South Jersey that the event benefits.

On race day runners will start their route at the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 8 a.m. and head down Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The race wraps up with a finish-line celebration including free food, prizes and family-friendly entertainment.
