Camden Children's Garden

Bloomin' Fun for the Kids

The Camden waterfront has its share of enticing attractions - The Adventure Aquarium, Battleship New Jersey, the Riversharks Stadium and the Susquehanna Bank Center- but don't miss the sweet little gem nestled in the midst of it all... The Camden Children's Garden.

On the banks of the Delaware River (with an amazing view of the Philadelphia skyline that can't be beat), you'll find colorful, kid-themed gardens and exhibits like the Storybook Garden, the Maze, the Dinosaur Garden, the Tree House, the Picnic Garden, the Fitness Garden, the CityScapes Garden and more.

Step indoors to explore interactive, educational exhibits - the Butterfly House, the Plaza de Aibonito and Benjamin Franklin’s Secret Garden Workshop. Take in a seasonal show in the Piney Woods Amphitheatre, then top off your visit with a ride on the carousel, the train and the Spring Butterfly (modest fee for the rides). Review all the attraction details after the jump!

Operated by the Camden City Garden Club, a non-profit organization that provides community gardening education, city greening projects, job training for teenagers and more.

If You Go

Make your journey part of the fun! The Children's Garden is easily accessible by the RiverLink Ferry from Penn's Landing, the PATCO High Speedline or the River Line train.

Hours - The Children’s Garden is open from April through December, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and Thursday through Sunday in July and August.

Admission - $6.00 per person, ages 3 and up (free for children ages 2 and under). Ride tickets are $2 each or 6 for $10. Proceeds from rides help maintain the Garden, the Camden Garden Club’s programs and to help employ Camden youth.

Insider Tips

Bring a towel if it’s warm enough. The kids will get a kick out of splashing around in the Violet Plaza Fountain.

An especially fun time to visit the Children's Garden is during one of their Family Festivals, held the 2nd & 4th weekends of each month from April to December. Get the full festival scoop, after the jump.

Since you won’t find refreshments on-site, pack a yummy picnic lunch and stroll on down to the riverbank where you’ll find plenty of cool spots to enjoy the view!
