Worth The Trip: 4th Annual German Society Bierfest

Salute Pennsylvania’s cultural ties to Germany on Saturday, Feb. 21, during the fourth annual bierfest at The German Society of Pennsylvania.

The festivities begin at the German Society’s historic Northern Liberties mansion at 2 p.m. through 5:30 p.m.

You can join dozens of brewers to taste an assortment of German-style beers, all of which are locally-produced in the state. Pilsner and Dunkel, Kolsch and Bock, and Schwarzbier and Altbier are among the beers featured on the menu.

Some highlights of the event, which is hosted by the Philly Roller Derby team, include roller derby arm-wrestling, live music, Berlin-style “beerlesque,” in addition to traditional German fare from Wursthaus Schmitz.

Three different types of tickets are currently available for purchase, starting at $20 for the “Beer-less” option for designated drivers and children over 10. General admission is $45 per person and the VIP Plus package is $75 per person.

The VIP Plus Package includes a beer tasting seminar, Bierfest stein and early entrance at 1 p.m.

For parents looking to partake in the event, complimentary childcare will be available for the entire duration of the festival.
