The Ultimate Star Wars TV Parody Is Coming Your Way

“Star Wars” has been spoofed by so many people in so many different forms that it’s practically impossible now to make fun of the venerable film franchise in any sort of new or fresh way. But that’s not gonna stop Seth Green and the “Robot Chicken” crew from giving it a shot. They’ve done two of these parodies already, and now they’re planning a third one that’s bigger, longer, and blessed by the destroyer of childhoods himself, George Lucas. From Rodney Ho at the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

Adult Swim’s Emmy award-winning “Robot Chicken” is planning a third “Star Wars” spoof set to air December 12 and this one will be bigger than ever: 44 minutes long, or four times longer than a typical episode… Zac Efron… will play Anakin Skywalker…

Although the show mocks the Star Wars universe, creator George Lucas is on board. “He has a wicked sense of humor,” (producer Matthew) Senreich said.

The “Star Wars” spoof is part of 20 new episodes of the show coming up on Adult Swim. I think the reason this show succeeds at parodying “Star Wars" where so many other fail, is because they get to swear. And use dolls. You can make anything seem new and funny if you’ve got dolls swearing.

Best of all, “Robot Chicken” is doing something new and odd with the characters, instead of just rehashing old “Star Wars” scenes in a goofy way (Hi, Family Guy!). So set your DVR’s later this year, gang. You’ve got a lot of Wookie sexcapades coming your way.
