Zac Efron Turns To Crime To Rough Up His Image

Zac Efron's latest bid to move away from his clean cut "High School Musical" image has him starring as a money launderer and coke runner in a new thriller.

Efron will produce and star in the American remake of "Snabba Cash" a hot Swedish property which has been snapped up by Warner Bros. in America, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Is that street enough for ya?

The movie is based on a novel by Jens Lapidus and was a major hit in Sweden. It follows three interconnected drug and organized crime storylines. Efron will play the main character, a young man who hopes to strike it rich quickly by becoming a runner for a coke dealer.

Joyful singing and dancing will not be needed as Efron is moving as far away from his movie past as possible. You had to know the road away from "High School" would lead to serious crime one way or another. It's just funny that out of all the countries to export a crime-movie, it's the homeland of ABBA.

The movie title "Snabba Cash" is a Swedish term for easy money which is what the co-producers hope Efron's involvement brings.
