The 2010 Emmys: Handicapping Lead Actress In A Comedy

In the days leading up to Sunday night's Emmy awards, PopcornBiz will be sizing up the nominees in the 10 biggest categories. Disclaimer: Using our picks to gamble would be insane.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, "New Adventures of Old Christine"
The nomination itself was a great send-off for a show that sort of just plain ran out of gas. There is no need for further goodbyes. She's won her gold for the show (2006), so just drink the bubbly and enjoy the night. Odds of winning: 12 to 1.

Lea Michele, "Glee"
The Academy voters will find other ways to pay their respect to the breakout show (think Jane Lynch) without giving metal to the show's resident diva and the star to most likely break out of the "Glee" club for real. She'll get her due. But unless the "Glee" express seriously runs off the tracks, it won't be this time. Odds of winning: 10 to 1.

Tiny Fey, "30 Rock"
While the so-called "30 Rock" slump has been blown out of proportion by insane expectations,  it will be enough to keep Fey from getting the nod. Though there are still enough comic Tiny Fey gems to give most actresses a banner year. Life isn't always fair, Liz Lemon. Odds of winning: 6 to 1

Amy Poehler, "Parks and Recreation"
The show is turning into one of the funniest shows on television and Poehler is its emotional center -- even if she often plays it straight for scene stealers like Aziz Ansari. This award will have to go back to committee for further review: Odds of winning: 5 to 1

Toni Collette, "United States of Tara"
Collette took this home last year and the Academy loves people who play multiple characters. Especially if the actress has serious cred as Collette has: Odds of winning: 3 to 1.

Edie Falco, "Nurse Jackie"
Falco continues to ride the big-love, even flipping genres and premium cable channels. "Nurse Jackie" might not be the funniest show on television, but Falco is a great and beloved actress. The Academy has done her right on "Sopranos," she'll take it for "Jackie."  Odds of winning: 2 to 1.
