Lego Movie Going Forward

Steel yourself for an onslaught of "Lego" movie toys!

Warner Brothers, which has been kicking around a Lego movie since 2008, has finally given the project the greenlight, reported Variety.

The live action-animation hybrid film is due to arrive in 2014. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the men behind "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," have been hired to write the script, and will get a hand in directing it from Chris McKay of Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken."

Animal Logic, the studio that worked on such films as "Guardians of Ga'hoole" and "Happy Feet," will handle the animation.

We're a bit disappointed that Michel Gondry, who did the brilliant Lego-animated video for The White Stripes' "Fell in Love With a Girl," was passed over. But considering his recent track record ("Be Kind Rewind," "The Green Hornet"), we can't say we're surprised.
