Foxx Will in Fact Hunt DiCaprio in Tarantino's โ€œDjango Unchainedโ€

If Will Smith isn't smart enough to jump on the Quentin Tarantino gravy train, well, it's probably for the best.

As had been rumored for a week or two now, Jamie Foxx will play the lead role in Tarantino's slave revenge epic "Django Unchained," reported Variety.

Foxx will play Django, an ex-slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) who teaches him the tricks of the trade, after which he goes on a quest to free the love of his life, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington, Foxx's "Ray" co-star, is said to be in the mix)., and seek vengeance on slavemaster Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Samuel L. Jackson is on deck to play Stephen, Cotton's right-hand man.

There's a totally weird and unsubstantiated rumor floating around the Internets that Smith turned down the role because it's being produced by Harvey Weinstein, who's also backing Paul Thomas Anderson's Scientology-inspired film, "The Master."
