Real Trailer for Mind-Bendingly Awesome “Bellflower” Arrives

At some pint during the Tribeca Film Festival we managed to find time for a screening of "Bellflower," a wildly originally film that is by turns bursting with new love and California sunshine, before getting seriously, end-of-days dark. But at the time the only clip available were this largely unhelpful teaser that told you almost nothing about the film.

But moments ago we got an email directing us to a proper 2-minute trailer for "Bellflower," complete with dialogue and plot--it's so good we now find ourselves eager to see it all over again.

Written and directed by star Evan Glodell, the film follows a young man whose preparations for the apocalypse are interrupted by a beautiful blonde. Suffice to say, thing get ugly.

Here's the official synopsis, from Oscilloscope:

Best friends Woodrow and Aiden spend all of their free time building MAD MAX-inspired flamethrowers and muscle cars in preparation for a global apocalypse. But when Woodrow meets a charismatic young woman and falls hard in love, he and Aiden quickly integrate into a new group of friends, setting off on a journey of love and hate, betrayal, infidelity, and extreme violence more devastating and fiery than any of their apocalyptic fantasies.

In terms of plot, that a pretty good breakdown, but it doesn't begin to capture the look and shifts in tone the film goes through--it's mesmerizing.

"Bellflower" opens Aug. 5 in New York and LA before inching its way across the country.
